Quick review of February and March

I’ve been amazingly busy the start of this year. With two work projects on the go and a lot of coursework to complete I spent a lot of my time throughout February and March sat in my room working. It’s now all paying off though, I’ve got high expectations that I’ve done well in my first year of University and also managed to complete projects within the time scales set.

My first project was working on a leaflet and DVD cover for the Garden Science Trust – they have been developing a film with Shelly Telly, People First of Norfolk and scientists from the Institute of Food Research to help and educate people with learning difficulties about healthy eating. My brief was plain: create an engaging but clear leaflet to carry out their intentions. At this point I took the decision not to bombard the intended audience with fancy graphics but keep it very simple – but with a focus on clearly illustrated pictures.

This is the inside of the leaflet I designed. I illustrated all the pictures myself and worked closely with Sheila Mathias to make sure it was what they wanted.

The second project was designing a poster, banner and logo for an event being staged at Flegg High School – Do Something Different – a family learning day which would be sent out to Flegg’s extended school network. After creating a number of logo’s with Geoff Ballington I then went about creating a banner and poster for the event. Below are just some of the work I developed for the event.

Site Rebrand

I’ve updated my website with this lovely blog area. I’ve been building it since early January but its now mostly ready to be unleashed on the world. I remember a few years back at the struggle of reskinning a wordpress theme, but seems I’ve managed it this time around with a little help from a friend. This will be my website from now on, not only can I post news, see comments, show my portfolio but also expand and combine all my work in different areas together into a single website. If you wish to see my University work – its here. If you wanna check out my artwork – thats here too. If you’re a business and want to see my graphic design portfolio – well thats not quite here but will be soon!

New Artwork & Logo Designs

Been quite an interesting month in January, I found time outside of university to try and branch out some skills as well as pick up a few projects to keep me busy.

First things first, im working with Shelly Telly (once again) and Garden Science Trust back in Norfolk to produce a leaflet and DVD cover for a project they currently developing, when the project is all wrapped up I’ll display my work.

Developing a brand for a school event named “Do Something Different” again this is an ongoing project, working with bpm.im’s designer Geoff Ballington as we hope to colab a lot more projects in the future.

I had time aside from both of these projects to create more artwork;

Fighter Jet Street King

Looking toward the future I hope to use websites such as crowdspring and perhaps Yola to generate more cash flow!

I’ve also updated this blog’s portfolio section with a number of galleries I can easily add to. It will display personal, university and graphic design work.

Random logo Designs

I’m always looking to expand my skill base and I’m thinking of reskinning my website as I feel I could create something more aesthetically pleasing. Just playing around really I came up with a couple of interesting logo designs. sly_logo_large sly_logo_small
